The outstandingly talented opera singers Alaudiae return to Simonsbath Festival to present a hugely varied mix of songs, from 16th century madrigals to re-imaginations of recent pop hits such as John Legend's 'All of me' and Beyonce’s ‘Halo’. At the centre of the evening's programme is Schumann's cycle 'Frauenliebe und Leben', balanced by a selection of folk music from the British Isles, with many other delights.

Soprano Claire Egan and mezzo-soprano Miranda Westcott are joined by Arngeir Hauksson (theorbo, renaissance guitar, lute, percussion) Sonia Ben-Santamaria (piano).

Alaudiae have collectively performed in prestigious venues around the world including The Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall, Sydney Opera House and further afield in Europe and New Zealand. Arngeir regularly provides music for Shakespeare Globe productions and Sonia has recently been awarded the first female conductor place on the Royal Opera House's prestigious Jette Parker training programme.

'Alaudiae make any event go with a bang. They are sexy, wild, beautiful and music pours out of them like water... or champagne!' Fiona Shaw CBE
